Welcome to the 10th year of Adopt a Composer, run in partnership with Making Music and in association with Radio 3. This scheme pairs an amateur ensemble – ranging from choirs and orchestras, to fretted string orchestras and lever harp ensembles – with an emerging composer. They work together for a year and over this time collaborate to produce a new work for the ensemble to premiere.
It’s a unique opportunity for amateur musicians to work directly with a composer, become actively involved in the creative process and discover new music. The composer has the opportunity to form a close working relationship with the ensemble - with the time to respond to the groups personalities and interests; an opportunity not always possible in professional commissions.
You can find out how the different relationships are developing between the ensembles and their composers on our Adopt a Composer blog site - click our suggested link below.
