Adopt a Composer – open for applications

We’re delighted to announce that our Adopt a Composer programme, run by Making Music in partnership with Sound and Music and in association with BBC Radio 3, is now open for the 14th year.

The deadline for applications is Friday 5pm 13 June 2014.

Pairing an amateur ensemble – from choirs and orchestras to harp ensembles – with an emerging composer to work and collaborate together for a year.

It’s a unique opportunity for amateur musicians to work directly with a composer, become actively involved in the creative process and discover new music. The composer has the opportunity to form a close working relationship with the ensemble – with the time to respond to the groups personalities and interests; an opportunity not always possible in professional commissions.
