Previous winners and short-lists

A total of nine proposals have been shortlisted across the two previous New Music Awards. They have demonstrated the huge spectrum of musical innovation across the UK, from beatboxing, samples of weather systems and African operetta to cathedral bells, bicycle bells and a choir of bats. An indicator of the strength of the New Music Award is the fact that six of the shortlisted creators and others who featured in the long lists have gone on to realise their musical creations, even without our £50,000 prize.
