PRSF Jazz Promoters Awards

Jazz Services

The aim of the Awards made by the PRS Foundation in collaboration with, and administered by, Jazz Services, is to encourage small scale promoters of new British Jazz Music. Award winners will be selected by a joint panel from PRS Foundation, Jazz Services, Contemporary Music Network, The British Academy of Songwriters & Composers, musicians and Serious. The panel will be looking for seasons which feature a majority of music by living British jazz composers and performers.

To expand & develop the jazz promoter base, the panel wants to encourage new jazz promoters who wish to establish themselves in their first year of promoting jazz. There are a limited number of Fledgling Promoters Awards (see to qualify section).

Award winners will be announced in September 2008. The PRS Foundation will make awards from £500 up to £2,000.

Programmes may be made up of a series of events by British bands, where musicians are performing their own work and/or programmes featuring new jazz works by British composers. Applicants must also be offering appropriate fees and providing good working conditions and audience facilities, and demonstrate sound marketing practice that attracts new audiences and builds on existing audiences.

Applicants must demonstrate that they are a non profit making organisation, but do not have to be a registered charity and have regularly been promoting live jazz events as a substantial and discernable part of their music programme in the last year.
