PRS for Music Foundation - announcements 16th December 2009
We’re delighted to bring news of our 10th anniversary, our continued support from PRS for music and our new logo.
We are 10!
PRS for Music Foundation reaches the grand young age of 10 years in 2010. All year we will be celebrating 10 years of supporting new music, reflecting on some of the highlights and debating issues around new music for the future.
Look out for events and stories as part of our celebrations throughout the year, including showcases of British Music Abroad, the launch of New Music Plus in Manchester and Liverpool and of course, the highly anticipated announcement of the winner of the 3rd New Music Award. Our 10th anniversary celebrations will all feature the 10th anniversary tag at the bottom of this page.
Great news for new music in the UK
PRS for Music has renewed its donation to the Foundation, agreeing to invest £1.5million for 2010. We’re very grateful to the Board and Membership of PRS for Music for their continued commitment to the Foundation. Over the past ten years we’ve supported a huge range of new music activity in all genres across the whole of the UK, and have led many groundbreaking new initiatives with a range of exciting partners. Over £13.5m has gone straight to the new music sector in the last 10 years. We will build on this in 2010 and we will continue to support top quality new music through grants, specialist programmes and partnerships.
New decade, new look, new ideas
PRS for Music Foundation is the new name for the PRS Foundation. We also have a great new logo, which you can see at the top of this page. Our new name and brand celebrates our strong and longstanding relationship with PRS for Music.
This marks a new phase of our life: we are supporting and initiating more new music projects than ever before, we are providing more investment for the sector, and we are growing our impact across and beyond the UK with international projects. More than £1.8m will be available for new music in 2010, This is great news for the new music sector.
Our values remain the same
The core aim of PRSF remains the same: to stimulate the creation, performance and promotion of new music, nurturing talent and building audiences for ground breaking work. We will continue to support inspiring new music activity, raise the profile of new music and lead partnerships which push artistic boundaries and respond to the needs of new music creators, performers and producers. We will still give grants to music of all genres across the whole UK. We are still an independent charitable company with all decisions made by our Board of Trustees.
