Creative exchange between Sweden and UK
20 talented music practitioners will take part in New Music Incubator – a new international programme supported by PRS for Music Foundation, Swedish Music Information Centre and MusikAlliansen. 2 week-long residential courses in Gothenburg this April and London in September will enable the performers, composers, improvisers and sound artists from Sweden and the UK to share and experiment with new ideas and strengthen their professional networks.
New Music Incubator builds on the project leaders’ involvement in the pan-European Re:New network, which exchanges repertoire between 12 European composer societies/collecting societies. New Music Incubator is based on an existing training model led by creative course leader Martin Q Larsson. From April 11th-16th, an intensive residential course in a remote location outside of Gothenburg will enable the 20 participating musicians and composers to create new work and experiment with processes and techniques that they would not be able to try in their day-to-day practice. A second course from 2nd-5th September will be held at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and conclude the project with a public performance.

The Swedish Music Information Centre is a company owned and financed by Stim (The Swedish Performing Rights Society). Musikalliansen is a cultural policy measure with the principal task of being an employer to freelance musicians. Musikalliansen also supports the independent music life through training courses, seminars, open discussions and co-operation with other actors within the area of music. Martin Q Larsson is a Swedish composer and musician, board member of the Society of Swedish Composers, the inventor of New Music Incubator and an experienced course leader.
Jan Hendrickse is a composer, improviser and sound artist. He teaches at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama and is artist in residence for ACME studios in East London. He has led training courses and professional development projects for a wide variety of arts organisations, venues and orchestras worldwide.
