Adopt a Composer

Funded by PRS for Music Foundation, run by Making Music and Sound and Music.

Adopt A ComposerAdopt a Composer pairs six amateur music groups with six composers for one year, with the resulting works performed and recorded by BBC Radio 3. It’s a chance for the musicians to have a new piece especially composed for them by some of the UK’s most talented emerging composers, and the whole process is supported by an experienced mentor to guide, cajole and encourage the developing partnerships. This year, we’re rolling out the scheme to any composers and groups who are interested in developing this collaboration, regardless of whether or not they are on the Sound and Music shortlist, or are members of Making Music. Find out more

We’ll be announcing the pairings for 2010/11 in late September. Watch this space.

More information: the Adopt a Composer blog site http://www.adoptacomposer.org is a hotbed of discussion and a chance to get a feel of how last year’s collaborations are developing.
