Adopt a Composer

Pairing an amateur ensemble – from choirs and orchestras to harp ensembles – with an emerging composer to work and collaborate together for a year, the Adopt a Composer programme, is funded by PRS for Music Foundation, run by Making Music in partnership with Sound and Music and in association with BBC Radio 3

It’s a unique opportunity for amateur musicians to work directly with a composer, become actively involved in the creative process and discover new music. The composer has the opportunity to form a close working relationship with the ensemble – with the time to respond to the groups personalities and interests; an opportunity not always possible in professional commissions.
