byHand Festival
The byHand festival is an annual event featuring the presentation of original film, music, animation and live art. It is based in Brighton, England with partners in Europe, Australia and North America.
All works promoted by the byHand festival include some component of live or hand-made production. In recent years, the festival has begun to focus its programming specifically on projects that explore the possibilities of live music performance with film.
The byHand team have a long-standing commitment to the promotion and dissemination of new work situated at the intersection of music, film and live art. Its main objective is to foster the development of and collaborations between local musicians, filmmakers and other artists.
During the last two years, the byHand festival directors have participated in active collaborations with local (Southeast) artists and promoters to produce a series of "New Talkies" (nights of live film scores composed and performed by local musicians).
The byHand festival welcomes expressions of interest for future commissions/collaborations.
