The leading international free improvising saxophonist Evan Parker will develop a new site specific performance with the 22-piece Behaviour Ensemble. The Behaviour ensembles diverse soundmakers include found and adapted objects, detourned audio technology, adapted turntables and prepared instruments. The performance will be built up through a series of workshops led by Evan Parker prior to the event.
This free, outdoor public performance will take place on the evening of 27 June 2007 on the seafront at Plymouth Hoe and will act as a launch event for the 2007 Sonic Arts Network Expo festival. Expo is the hub and playground of the experimental music and sound art scene in the UK and beyond. Free and open, the event mobilises a national network of artists and engages with communities from all backgrounds – placing sonic art and the people who make it in direct contact with the public. Expo steps out from traditional venues and into spaces that lie at the heart of the community - inspiring practitioners and the public to reconsider their environments.
Funding from the PRSF has made the production of this exciting launch event possible. All events are free over the Expo weekend and in order for us to work in new ways with the most exciting artists we rely on funding from organisations like the PRSF to make the delivery of an ambitious and accessible nationwide artistic programme possible.
